In this interview recorded the morning after U.S. President Trump’s ‘historic’ meeting with Chairman Kim Jong-Un of the Democratic Republic of Korea,  Professor Michel Chossudovsky  of the Centre for Research on Globalization gives his assessment of the meeting, outlines the threat of a reunified Korean peninsula to U.S. military and economic interests, comments on the coincidence of the G7 and other international summits taking place in the same week, and elaborates on the cross-cutting economic alliances which are challenging U.S. autonomy in the region. YPG CLAIMS 15 TURKISH SOLDIERS AND TURKISH-BACKED MILITANTS KILLED IN AFRIN

On June 15, the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) released a statement claiming that at least 15 Turkish soldiers and Turkish-backed militants had been killed in YPG attacks in the district of Sherawa in the northwestern Syrian area of Afrin. According to the statement, on June 13 the YPG destroyed a vehicle of Fiirqat al-Hamzah on a road between the villages of Qimara and Barada. 3 militants were allegedly killed on the scene. On the same day, the YPG reportedly attacked two vehicles belonging to Turkey-led forces in the village of Khaltah. 12 members of Turkey-led forces, including a Turkish soldier, were reportedly killed. The YPG statement claimed that 2,479 Turkish-backed militants and Turkish soldiers have been killed since the start of the Turkish operation in Afrin.
