US THREATENS UNILATERAL ACTION IF UN FAILS TO ACT ON ALLEGED IDLIB CHEMICAL ATTACK

FILE IMAGE Nikki Haley, the US ambassador to the UN, threatened that the United States will take “own” action if the UN Security Council fails to act on an alleged chemical attack in the village of Khan Sheikhoun in the Syrian province of Idlib. “When the United Nations consistently fails in its duty to act collectively, there are times in the life of states that we are compelled to take our own action,” Haley said during her speech that included images of children as a proof of the need of swift action. In other words, Haley blackmaled the UN Security Council in order to get a decision in that the US is interested: To condemn the Assad government for the attack without any investigation. Haley emphasized that “The truth is that Russia, Iran and [Syrian President] Assad have no interest in peace,” indicating that he is ready to blame these countries if they oppose to the US actions in the council. RT reported on the issue : The UN Security Council convened on Wednesday to discuss a dra

Photo: RIA Novosti / Igor Chuprin Currently, China is presumably developing a silent submarine of a new generation, the Sina information portal reported on Wednesday, citing some scientists, familiar with the country’s military plans. As the website noted, researchers, who previously had experience working abroad, in particular in the US, and then returned to China, may be involved in the development. It was also reported that at the moment, a computer model of the future submarine is being created. The work is being conducted by a group of Hea Govea, a research officer of the Institute of Mechanics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMCAS). According to the portal, previously, he worked at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico in the US. The scientists’ developments should help China to obtain necessary technologies that would not only allow creating of a new silent submarine, but also woul

IRAQI PMU REPELS MASSIVE ISIS OFFENSIVE WEST OF MOSUL

The Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) repelled a violent ISIS assault on Tal Abtah and Al-Jawf west of Mosul. The ISIS advance was aimed at lifting the siege imposed by the Iraqi Armed Forces on the ISIS-held areas of Tal Afar and Mosul. Separately, another ISIS attack was repelled at the villages of Talal and Kom al-Habib near Tal Afar. The Iraqi Air Force and PMU artillery units neutralizeed over 30 militants and destroyed 4 armored vehicles and 2 VBIEDs. Last night, ISIS carried out a large attack in Kirkuk. 10 suicide bombers attacked a government check point and killed a commander of the counterterrorism forces along with his son. The ISIS-linked news agency Amaq claimed that over 40 civilians and soldiers had been killed in the attack. The terrorist group also launched a number of attacks targeting Iraqi forces in the densely-populated districts of western Mosul. Two armored vehicles belonging to the Iraqi Army were allegedly destroyed. In a separate development, the Ir

US Protection Racket Root of Korea Conflict

By Finian Cunningham The best way to understand the seemingly reckless, recurring threat of nuclear war on the Korean Peninsula is this: the East Asian region is being run like a Mafia protection racket. And the criminal Mafia is the US. The conflict emanates from Washington and is perpetuated by Washington. Why? To justify what would otherwise be seen as simply outrageous US militarism in the Asia Pacific hemisphere, and in particular a criminally aggressive agenda towards the main geopolitical targets of Washington - China and Russia. Korea’s conflict is not primarily about North and South “enemy states”. It is, as it has been for the past 68 years since the end of World War II, about Washington using military force to criminally assert its hegemony on the global stage. But you wouldn’t know this from a casual reading of the Western news media. No, we are told over and over again that the US is “protecting” South Korea and its other Asian allies. The military presence of the US is “s

WHY TRUMP’S FIRST WAR IS PROBABLY GOING TO BE A CONFLICT WITH NORTH KOREA

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un (centre) attending a live-fire drill by a North Korean artillery unit near the eastern border with South Korea Written by Daniel Lang; Originally appeared at SHTFplan.com By now most people are completely desensitized to stories involving North Korea. One can only hear about so many blustering threats, missile launches, and state sanctioned executions, before those incidents are no longer surprising. Over the years we’ve seen it all, and most folks don’t really pay much attention to what’s going on in the Hermit Kingdom. That’s unfortunate, because they’re not paying attention as the Trump administration inches towards war with North Korea. The first definite sign that the current administration was going to take a different approach to North Korea, was when Secretary of State Rex Tillerson stated emphatically last month that “all options are on the table.” “Let me be very clear. The policy of strategic patience has ended. We are exploring a new range

According to the magazine, Cornut-Gentille claimed that there is a high dependence on Russia and Ukraine in this field. The report, which was presented at a hearing in the Finance Commission of the French National Assembly, noted that the French Armed Forces are heavily dependent on Russia and Ukraine , as well as on the An-124 heavy military transport aircraft, designed for strategic transportation. “It is a fact that Russians and Ukrainians control the

NEXT PHASE OF OPERATION EUPHRATES SHIELD TO INCLUDE IRAQ – RECEP TAYYIP ERDOGAN

According to the Turkish President, the next stage of Operation Euphrates Shield will be conducted not only on the Syrian territory, but also in Iraq. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan (Photo: AFP) The next stages of the Euphrates Shield operation, which had been recently concluded , would be broader and in addition to Syria would include terrorist-held territories in Iraq, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Tuesday, speaking to the Turkish NTV and Star networks. The Turkey’s leader described the military operation as the first stage of the country’s counterterrorism road map and added that expanded stages would follow. The future operation will have “not [only] a Syrian dimension, [but] also an Iraqi dimension. There are the Tal Afar and Sinjar situations [in Iraq]. We also have kin in Mosul [Turkmens],” the Anadolu news agency quoted Erdogan’s words. The Euphrates Shield operation was launched last August and carried out with support of the Free Syrian Army (FSA). Th

Pentagon - and Daesh - Target Iran

By Pepe Escobar CENTCOM commander Army Gen. Joseph Votel channeled his full Dr. Strangelove in front of the US House Armed Services Committee this past Wednesday. "We need to look at opportunities where we can disrupt [Iran] through military means or other means." As Orwellian as our times may be, this still ranks as a declaration of war. With the inbuilt consequence of smashing to bits the UN nuclear deal struck with Iran in the summer of 2015. Joseph Strangelove did not bother to chainsaw his words. Iran is one of the greatest threats to the US today (Pentagon official doctrine; number four after Russia, China and North Korea). Iran has increased its "destabilizing role" and poses "the greatest long-term threat to stability" in the entire Middle East. Iran is sneaky; "I believe that Iran is operating in what I call a gray zone." And that’s "an area between normal competition between states — and it's just short of open conflict.&qu
