FSB ARRESTS ISIS MEMBERS WHO PLANNED TERRORIST ATTACKS IN MOSCOW

Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) detained four members of ISIS “sleeper cell” in Moscow. ISIS members arrived from the city of Noviy Urengoy in Russia’s Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Region with a goal to carry out “high-profile” attacks in Moscow,  the FSB’s press service told Russian media  on April 26. According to FSB, the detained ISIS members had received instructions from Syria through Telegram messenger. The security services clarified that searches and detentions had been held in Novy Urengoy. In the course of special operations, 20 people were rounded up in the city. A large number of religious extremist books, as well as “communication facilities used for contacting foreign emissaries” were seized. TALIBAN CAPTURES TWO ARMY BASES AND SEVERAL CHECKPOINTS IN NORTHERN AFGHANISTAN

Taliban fighters during a military exercise before “Operation al-Khandagh” Taliban fighters captured two military bases and nine checkpoints of the Afghan Army and Police in a successful coordinated attack in the Almar district of the northern province of Faryab, the Taliban news agency Voice of Jihad reported on April 27. According to the news agency, Taliban fighters captured loads of weapons including two US-made armored vehicles. Mohammad Saleh Saleh, the governor of Almar district, acknowledged that nine Afghan policeman had been killed and fifteen others were injured in the Taliban attack on the district, according to the Afghan TOLO TV. Abdul Karim Yourish spokesman for Faryab Police said that Afghan policemen had killed eleven members of the Taliban during the clashes in Almar, including “Mohammad Amin” the movement’s field commander. RUSSIAN EW SYSTEMS ‘DISABLING’ U.S. EC-130 ELECTRONIC WARFARE AIRCRAFT IN SYRIA

According to the head of Special Operations Command, Gen. Raymond Thomas, the Russians are “disabling” even U.S. EC-130 Compass Call electronic warfare aircraft flying near Syria. “Right now in Syria we are operating in the most aggressive EW environment on the planet from our adversaries. They are testing us everyday, knocking our communications down, disabling our EC-130s, etcetera,”  Breaking Defense quoted remarks by Gen. Thomas  . OPCW VISITS SECOND SITE OF SUPPOSED CHEMICAL ATTACK IN SYRIA’S DUMA

File Image On April 25, the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) announced in an official statement that its fact finding mission had visited a second site of the alleged chemical attack in the district of Duma and had collected samples from it.  The OPCW inspected the first site in Duma on April 21 . The OPCW added that its team had also interviewed some people who are related to the alleged chemical attack in Duma district and stressed that these interviews are part of its team’s mission. “The FFM [fact finding mission] will continue to carry out its independent and impartial mission based on interviews with relevant people, its findings from the site visits, analysis of the sample results, as well as any other information and materials collected,” the OPCW said in its official statement.
