Jaysh al-Islam announced that fighters from Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), backed by Free Syrian Army (FSA) members, often from Faylaq al-Rahman, launched an attack on its positions in the Ashari farms in the Eastern Ghouta yesterday and captured the area.
Jaysh al-Islam said 7 of its fighters were killed as a result of the attack, and claimed that the attack was in the same time when the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) attacked Ayn Tarma and Jobar.
Jaysh al-Islam called on foreign parties to stop supporting HTS and its allies in Syria. Jaysh al-Islam spokesman, Hamzah Birekdar, said that Jaysh al-Islam holds HTS the repercussions of its actions in Eastern Ghouta. It appears that Jaysh al-Islam may attack the HTS soon again.
Opposition sources announced that negotiations between Faylaq al-Rahman and Jaysh al-Islam in Eastern Ghouta to exchange of prisoners had failed. Jaysh al-Islam blamed Faylaq al-Rahman for this.
Berkdar claimed that there was a lack of response from the other side, and Faylaq al-Rahman claimed that Jaysh al-Islam did not agree to release all the prisoners of Faylaq al-Rahman. In turn, Jaysh al-Islam claimed that some of these prisoners were HTS agents who joined Faylaq al-Rahman to manipulate it.
